7.62x39 rounds are larger and have a slight taper, resulting in the need for a more drastically curved magazine than a 5.56 mag.

C Products has come up with a reliable mag with a less drastic curve while only losing 2 rounds in capacity.
Why does this matter? Because the 28 rd mag will often fit in mag pouches designed for a standard 30 rd 5.56 magazine, where the 30 rd x39 mag will not, due to the extreme curve of the mag.

That and because the 28 rd mag looks less dorky than the 30 rd mag.
