Additionally there are many jig systems to finish the Ar lowers that use routers, trust me I have "allegedly used" mini mill with jig, Drill press, and the 80percent Arms easyjig gen 2 with dewalt router. the easyjig gen 2 with patience is the fastest and best finish by far, that being said they have older options that do only ar15 for about $139.00 that will also use a router. My advice if your going to make a hobby of it buy one of the router based setups. if your a one and done then drill press with cross slide vice is fine but takes a long time to do right. also for standard jigs look for good thick plates and hardened steel bushings for the trigger and safety holes. Stay away from those obviously cheap little aluminum square block looking thingy's for like $49.99 - $69.99 there are better options for like $20.00 more.

5D tactical jigs are solid as well only downside is you need to buy specific plates to go AR9 where as the 80percent easyjig gen 2 and the modulus arms do it all. Look around this is a reference as they do make a phenomenal jig you might find it elsewhere for less but they are barely ever on sale.

finally other considerations the router kits all require specific end mills proprietary to the jigs consider those costs as well and remember to look at the compatible router list , some require additional operations in order to use them. The MAKITA RT0701C , and the Dewalt DWP 611 are the best I run the Dewalt.
