4-pay is a dumb idea. if you can't bank the funds yourself over those 4 months to pay for it outright, you got bigger problems.

I'll take the time to pay anytime. Always take advantage of the 90 days same as cash, free financing for 12, 24 months, etc. It has nothing to do with having the funds on hand, but the fact that I can have those funds earning gains while the financing company gets nothing from me.

While I agree with you in principle, and have done extended pay same as cash on big ticket items in the past (especially when I was young and my credit rating wasn't established), I was more referring to people who use it because their ends barely meet, and are putting themselves in a financially precarious position.

It should be noted that SG can check your credit when you use 4 pay. If you only use it occasionally, that's fine, but if you have a 0% interest card, I'd rather use that (or pay in full) instead of taking the credit score hit.

Exactly. I use it all the time, because $150 for 4 consecutive months is ok. However, $600 every 4 months is not...
