Firearm Registration
With the newly proposed laws that are coming up with the possibility of having to register "assault weapons" with the NFA, I find myself a little confused with the paper work I filled out when I bought the guns.
I've assumed when I buy a new gun, either a handgun or longarm that the weapon is registered to me when I fill out that paper work.
All the guns I own are already registered to me in some database correct? So they know I them prior to having to register then with the NFA if it happens?
So aside from having to pay the fee, being fingerprinted and move paper work, what's the point?
Sorry if its a poor question.

Re: Firearm Registration
Not exactly.
Handgun sales are illegally stored. But they don't take into account handguns bought out of state before you were a resident here, or handguns transferred to you by a parent or child.
Rifle sales can only be traced to the original buyer, and to do so, they'd have to confiscate the paper records of every FFL. They generally don't enter those into a database of any sort unless the ATF requests records. Also, face-to-face long gun sales can't be tracked definitively because no background check is required.Safety is a good tool for tyrants; no one can be against safety.

Also, ATF doesn't know if you lost all your guns in a tragic boating accident, either.

Re: Firearm Registration
I could type for a while and answer this question but you should utilize the search feature on this site and learn first about "registration" (or lack of) and the PA state police "sales database".
I believe you will answer your own questions! When unholstering your sidearm it is customary to say: "Excuse me while i whip this out"
