Can we find out how many PICS checks in 2012?

Just wondering. Is this public info? It could be a cool way to gauge the barometer of firearm ownership in PA.

I was at a blog that posted the Colorado system and their backlog, which is 12,604 checks with an 8 day backlog. Usually they approve within minutes or so, but are so backlogged with checks, that the backlog is 8 days.

That's a 500,000 annual rate.

Just wondering if we can find the PA numbers and can compare to population to estimate firearms per person.

Those numbers should be out in a week or so. PICS numbers are a barometer, but can go either way. After going through a PICS check, the customer could walk away from the purchase and buy zero guns, or they could buy multiple guns for that one PICS check.

yes, i understand that the data would only be transfers, aka velocity of firearms sales, and would not reflect the number of firearms, but only the number of transfers.

But it still would be cool to see.

The info will be publish much later in the year with the LTCF statistics. And since PICS is paid for by a surtax, each individual handgun and long guns is counted. ...it doesn't go by the number of PICS calls, but rather the listings on the tax form - SP4-134.

It was August of this year that it was released for 2011.
