Did I get an get an ok deal on this Weatherby?

I just picked up a Weatherby Mark V Sporter in .300 Win Mag on Thursday. I thought it was new until the guy told me it was used. It was still in the original wrapping, has the original box. Leupold scope mounts. The gun is beautiful, not a mark on it. It looks like someone bought it, put a scope on it, shot it once then wrapped it back up and put it back in the box. I paid $850. I checked the Weatherby site and the suggested retail price is $1600. I'm thinking reality would be more like $950-$1000.

I traded in another rifle and saved my change for a year so I only had to pay $100 out of pocket. I always wanted one of these. This will be a really cool rifle to pass down to my son.

I would say you did okay. Get youself a nice Leupold scope and your good to go. The .300 Weatherby Mark V is a classic.

As slickracer suggested, top it off with a nice Leupold. I recommend the VX Series.

Right now I have a Burris LRS Ballistic Plex 3x9x40. I had it on my old 7 mag I traded it. I'm going to see how that does for now. The illuminated reticle is pretty bad ass right around dusk. I think it will work out well for the pig hunt I'm going on so the crosshairs stand out on the black pig.
