I've written my federal and state representatives. I donate money to liberty minded candidates. I remind them at times like this (the ones I juiced who won) why I did so. I get like minded folks to do the same. I've bundled money for liberty minded candidates. I write letters (the actual mail kind). I even went to Harrisburg once or twice for lobbying events.

From a time when I was younger and dumber, I'm an NRA life member although I have not given them money in quite some time. I'm a life member of the Second Amendment Foundation and give them money yearly because they have been the most effective national conduit to advance the 2nd Amendment thru strategic jurisprudence.

I avoid the GOA because their non-gun politics (which, like the NRA, they push alongside their gun politics) don't do it for me.

I don't have any problems listening to the ILA, I don't have any problems evaluating what they are doing and sometimes calling/writing/donating as appropriate. But I don't need to join to do that and neither does anyone else.
If I thought they might not '86 us, I'd join. These people brought you 1986, Hohenwarter, and desperately trying to slow pedal Heller. I can do my part this time without enabling their stupid moments, which have outnumbered the smart ones for quite awhile.

I'd also suggest to anyone who is thinking of joining the NRA as a knee-jerk reaction to what is going on--if you really think that juicing the NRA lobbyists are doing to get the job done, donate your funds directly to the NRA-ILA or the PVF. Due to the way the law works, your regular NRA dues can't really fund lobbying or candidates--they fund administration, firearm safety and training, and the like (this, BTW, is probably the only reason I don't feel dirty about my "life" member status--and I did not pay full freight at the time).

I have considered joining the NRA before but never saw a need to until now. Hopefully every gun owner will consider it now.

Yeah man. I made sure I signed up for a membership right after I saw the stance the NRA was taking on Meet the Press.

I think I already mentioned it but I either renewed or joined for the first time, the NRA, NAGR and GOA. Whatever it takes at this point; I honestly fear what will happen in our country if some crazy measures like Feinstein and Cuomo are actually attempted. These nuts really think they can pull off a confiscation.

I re-joined the NRA yesterday. The on again, off again, is back on.

Just joined the NRA right now, as well as donated to the NRA ILA. I also joined SAF, GOA, FOAC, and PAFOA earlier in the week.

I was a member a long time ago of the GOA and NRA, but I let them lapse, as I wasn't into the gun scene for a while- mostly due to lack of funds. But earlier this year I started getting back into, and now with the crazy talk of more gun control, I need to help. And yes, I've also contacted all my representatives, and I will continue to contact them, as well as speak out to anybody who will listen to me.

And I've already had some nut job from California contact my job (I work for a school) because I argued for arming staff and teachers. He was trying to get me fired. Luckily, my bosses are cool and at least one of them completely agrees with me. They blocked his email so he can't do it again.

But look, we have to go to war with the NRA we have, not the NRA we want. I really like Sebatian's take here. I don't like the Hughes Amendment, or any of their other compromises. But that was nearly 30 years ago. What else have they compromised on recently? Nothing that I can remember.

Regardless of what you think, the NRA is the 800 lb gorilla in Congress. What they say carries weight. A lot of it. Yes, the NRA wants to increase their membership- so what? Isn't that the point of the organization? And the more members they have, the more weight they can carry. We argue later for how it should be run, and if we need new leadership.

Now is not the time for that. Its time to join together and defeat any new legislation.

I just donated more money to NRA ILA.

We are all willing to spend money on Guns, Mags and Ammo. It is crazy not to give money to organizations that work to protect our rights when we are under attack like this.
