Default Rock Island Armory RIA M1911 1A-FS - POLISHED Nickel .45ACP

    My first 1911!!!

Rock Island Armory RIA M1911 A1FS Polished Nickel .45ACP

Just picked it up Thursday after waiting 1 hour 45 minutes to get through to PICS!

Like new. (one faint idiot scratch)

    Included:
    Factory case
    Manual
2 bagged fired brass casings from factory
    Original mag
    One Chip McCormick mag
One 50 rd box PMC Bronze FMJ minus 4 rds

One handgun and roughly $50 of extras - $350
No shipping - just paid $25 transfer.

This kind of thing never happens to me.

    It's a Christmas miracle!

What country can preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the spirit of resistance? Let them take arms!

Very nice and Merry christmas to you. I have the tactical model. If you start having feed issues with it get a couple of Chip McCormic SS match mags and that will fix it. Mine had a problem with hollow points but the mags fixed it. MidwayUSA puts them on sale every other month for like $19 a piece.

A Merry Christmas to you as well and thank you!

I haven't been this giggly inside over a firearm purchase in - well, almost ever!
I never thought I'd own a 1911 due to cost and while I've been lusting for a polished autopistol for a few years now, THAT drives up the cost even MORE.

When this popped up for $350 I had very little info aside from the fact that it was a "nickel 1911". I started Googling to see how the price stacked up to what I could find online and felt it was "fair" - I had only seen matte/brushed nickel models - I didn't know they offered them in polished.
Then the seller texted me a photo and when I saw that it was "shiny", I said "SOLD!"

I appreciate the tips on the mags. As this is my first venture into the world of the 1911, I have much to learn, and happy to get the advice of those more experienced with them.
I did pick up a box of Hornady TAP FPD 230 gr +P (JHP), but won't put them in it until I see how they feed.

It's sitting on the table as I type - I just cant stop looking at it.

It won't be eating as much as it would like (then again, neither will I after all these recent purchases), but I will never allow it to starve.

On a serious note, I do feel a little bad for the kid I bought it from, as he needed Christmas money, and I know what it's like to have to sell a gun for money, but on the other hand, his 1911 DID go to a good home where it will be appreciated, wanted, and cared for properly, as opposed to "some random guy" buying it who has no real interest and is just going to toss it in a drawer, or re-sell it.

    ABSOLUTELY!

"Mrs. Santa" found this on Facebook!
I don't use FB, but my wife does, and the other evening she says to me "So-and-So posted that someone he knows has a Nickel RIA 1911 for $350 - if anyone is interested, let him know".

My immediate thought was, "Damn, I wish I hadn't just spent "X" on online magazine purchases", but after a few seconds, I said "HOW much did he say?" When she verified what I thought she said, I said, "Damn, that doesn't sound bad, but I don't know..."

"Lemme do some searches and see what they sell for."

"Wow... OK, they seem to be priced at around $450 for the plain, black model."

"It sounds like a good price" said my wife.

(Did she really just say that?)

"I dunno", I said. "Let him know I'm interested, but need to look into some things first."

We started to discuss it, and with everything that's happening in the news recently, she was of the opinion that it may be a good idea to get something before anything weird happens. The price helped too. The other thing that helped was the fact that she had recently had the opportunity to fire a Kimber Ultra Carry and she liked it. That was the first she had ever fired a .45ACP. She asked if "this gun" would be like the Kimber and I explained the basic differences, and that it was the same basic design.

"Why don't you just get it", she said.

    LOL. Twist my arm!

A few minutes later I contacted the seller and got more info, but still was unaware that it was the polished model. We texted back ad forth a bit until he sent a photo.
"Holy CRAP!" I said to my wife, "This this thing is POLISHED nickel!"

"Put a SOLD sign on it!" I texted to the seller!

    And now it's mine.

    It's a Christmas miracle!
