    Default "Violence Tax"

Cook Co. Illinois is considering a budget minded "violence tax" that would put a $25 tax on every firearm sold and a $.05 tax on every round of ammo sold, in that county. Co. Com. Board President Toni Preckwinkle defends this tax stating that the availability of ammo exaserbates the violence problem (paraphrasing from AR mag). A study done with gun violence in Jersy City, NJ, over a four year span, showed that gun violence perpetrators generally used only 3.2 to 3.7 rounds of ammo in the attacks that landed them in prison, this with semi auto pistols. It was down to 2.3 to 2.6 rounds with revolvers. A survey was also done with federal and state inmates which showed only a few of the inmates legally purchased the firearm through a retail store. The rest were mostly acquired through theft or the black market. I am wondering how this is going to help stop violence in Cook Co., Il, considering criminals usually only use a gun to commit a crime. What happens to us folk who are law abiding and shoot for sustainance, pleasure or competition? Just want to know when the insanity is going to stop, and by that, I mean, how long will good people have to pay for criminals' decisions. Also, if someone is going to make some shit up about balancing the budget, couldn't they come up with something a little less intelligence insulting than "violence tax"? That sounds as fucktarded as 'hate crime' does. Kill a homosexual, lesbian, or black, it is hate. Kill a white dude, it is plain old murder. WTF???
