Default Can you OC in the winter?

Another thread regarding OC and a coat made me wonder.
As a practical matter, can one OC in the winter?

Sure. Get a webbing belt that will support the weight of your weapon and strap it over your coat. Or go with a leg holster, wear your weapon on your thigh. Or tuck your coat behind your weapon in your usual wear position.

I don't OC but I also never wear coats. It gets cold enough here to need a coat maybe 15 days a year. I usually wear just a hoodie. OC would be easy with just a hoodie/sweatshirt.

You also don't live up here in the damned snow belt. It gets plenty cold up here come January-early March. Coats are necessary up here for comfort, and sometimes even survival if you get caught out in the cold for too long.

Car breaks down out in the middle of nowhere, leaving you an hour's walk (five minute drive) from help. Even if the cell phone gets signal, you still have to wait for assistance to show up (could be 30 minutes, could be 3 hours depending on where you are and how close the assistance is to your location). Hypothermia becomes a very real, very dangerous concern. People have died while waiting for assistance, even on the interstate up here.

If you ain't properly prepared, cold will kill you far more surely than anything else. That's why I have a full prepare kit in my truck. Blankets, flares, battery charger, tools, and other goodies to get the motor running again if possible.

I don't know where you live. I was speaking as to what I would do if I OCed. I also keep a prep bag in my truck.

    Is this thread even serious?

How about just wearing a sweat shirt tucked, or even un-tucked, depending on the length of the sweater?

Not all of my jackets are even long enough to fully cover a firearm, and I wear tall/ long size.

My winter dress is about the same as my summer dress, just pants and something warmer than a t-shirt.

Carry extra coats in the trunk or back of your vehicle for breakdown and other emergencies. Personally I hate wearing a coat when I drive because I feel all cramped up and my vehicle does have heat after all. And walking from my warm car, outside for 10-15 seconds, into a warm store/gas station/ etc doesn't bother me one bit without a coat on.

I don't OC in the winter, because I don't like looking like complete idiot with gun belt on top of the coat/winter clothes.

Except when I'm hunting and my gun is in shoulder rig, but in this case I don't really care what deers will think about my OC or color of my pants.

I don't really open carry during winter, unless it's warmish out.

I do have a jacket with zippers on the side for access to holstered firearms.

If I wanted to OC I'd use the side zippers on my jacket to expose the firearm. There are special 'duty' type jackets that have this, picked one up before I had my LTCF/CCDW...
