Incorrect, it doesn't matter if it's winter, spring, summer whatever. you can oc anytime you want. if you wear a coat, shirt, potato sack, and it covers the gun, you better have a ltcf. plain and simple. if you have a lctf and a coat covers it, you are cc'ing as soon as you take your coat off you are oc'ing. if you do not have a ltcf and a coat covers it, you are against the laws of our fine commonwealth.

As I mentioned in the other thread, ankle holster is an option.

This is actually an older topic. But as posted previously (see pic): http://forum.pafoa.org/open-carry-14...ml#post1359993

The coat is from 5.11 Tactical.

I don't OC in the winter, because I don't like looking like complete idiot with gun belt on top of the coat/winter clothes.

Except when I'm hunting and my gun is in shoulder rig, but in this case I don't really care what deers will think about my OC or color of my pants.

What he said. Sounds like an easy way to go from "law abiding citizen" to having a conviction for a "gun crime".

I don't really open carry during winter, unless it's warmish out.

I do have a jacket with zippers on the side for access to holstered firearms.

If I wanted to OC I'd use the side zippers on my jacket to expose the firearm. There are special 'duty' type jackets that have this, picked one up before I had my LTCF/CCDW...

I generally don't make any effort to CC or OC. I wear an OWB kydex holster because it's comfortable. If I throw a jacket on, I'm CC'ing... But that choice is based on the weather, not how visible my weapon is.

There are a couple of exceptions... For example, when going to a place where it's clearly in my best interests not to be found out, I will wear an IWB holster for the day and conceal. If going to a pafoa get-together or a range trip, I sometimes make a point of OC'ing. But for normal, everyday activities? It just depends on my circumstances and dress. Sometimes, I will have a jacket on, then go into a house or business where it's warm, and take it off, effectively converting to OC.

Don't take this the wrong way... Just because I don't make an effort to do one or the other, doesn't mean I'm not always aware of whether I'm OC or CC. When OC'ing, I make an effort to be more aware for retention purposes. I am always aware of wheter I am CC or OC, unless I'm concealing and my shirt rides up without my noticing. But I discover this quite quickly.

I just don't change my habits. I always OC with a tucked in shirt. If it gets cold, then ya I will throw a jacket on. I just don't worry if my jacket is covering my pistol or not. If it is, it is. If it ain't, it ain't.

Guns don't like being cold. Don't OC in the winter.
