Sad day for NY state residents
The Second Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld NY's requirement to show "proper cause" in its handgun carry licensing process. Ironic, since a federal judge in Maryland struck down that state's "show cause" licensing requirements:

Re: Sad day for NY state residents
The requirement in New York's handgun licensing scheme that a person have "proper cause" to get a license to carry a concealed handgun in public does not violate the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled Tuesday.

Unbelievable. Heller established that the Second Amendment was an individual right, and that right included the right to self defense. Just because Heller applied that to just in the home self defense, a person has just as much of a right outside the home.
What a disgraceful decision.

Re: Sad day for NY state residents
Unfortunately some asswipe Justice had to put in the Heller decision the statement about "in ones home". ...so, until SCOTUS expands upon that or makes sure that was just an example - lower courts could use that wording to narrowly limit carrying.
Heller was a win for declaring the 2A an individual right, but just opened a huge bees nest of limitations that could basically nullify ownership by allowing registration, possession permits(in ones home), and requiring training before even being allowed a permit to have a gun within ones home. What is now going on in Washington DC could possibly be applied to the rest of the states - training and permit to buy and keep a gun at home, no carrying outside of the home. ....thanks to Heller.
On the bright side of things, a US Chief Magistrate Judge for California's middle district said that California's laws on carrying and the permit scheme has room to be challenged. So whatever case that was is to go forward.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Its not going to change. Its been like that as long as I can remember.
Its not only carry, its every type of Pistol Permit... in NYC anyway.
Mine dated back to 1976. Turned it in when I moved here.
Even then, it was so difficult many didn't even bother to try.
But getting a permit is only the beginning. All rules & Reg's that
go with it. It was and 20 page booklet.NRA - LIFE / ENDOWMENT MEMBER

Ok
Requiring norplant for those recieving public assistance for long term periods who have never worked is wrong.
lifetime limits on welfare are wrong
drug testing welfare is wrong
Yet there is nothing wrong with denying a right specifically mentioned in the constitution is perfectly fine?
That makes sense I guess.I offer discounts on freeze dried foods, knives and other prepping products.
