Default Black Friday Boredom SBR 300 Blackout Upper Build

A few components arrived today that I ordered during a pre-black friday sale. So instead of being out and about messing around in the crowds, I assembled a 300 blackout SBR upper for suppressor use.

8" - 300 blackout barrel, adjustable gas block, BCM BCG, the usual crap. The only interesting thing is the ambi-charging handle that I picked up from rainier arms.

    Parts laid out:

Assembly started, anti-seized the barrel nut

Went to 30 lbs, loosen and retorqued. Then almost 50 ft/lbs to get the gas tube alignment

Adjustable gas block in case tweeking is required from 220gr subsonics to 125gr supersonic loads.

Aligning the free float tube and torque'd on the YHM quick detachment for the can.

Scope and backup sights ready to roll.

Close ups of the charging handle

Nice looking upper. Like the charging handle. Good luck with it.

Like the Vltor charging handles, it doesn't drag when loaded from one side or the other. It's noticeably heavier than a standard handle and slightly more than the BCMs. I'll have to run some drills with it, but so far I like it. Which is good since the damn thing was about $90

That came out real nice. Are the offset back up sights Dueck Defense or less expensive clones?

The barrel is a hammer forge FN barrel, HP, MPI, chrome lined. Forgot the distributor that I got it from. The sights are ebay knock-offs ordered from a USA distributor. I had them kicking around and figured I'd toss them onto this rifle and give them a try.

I may swap out the receiver though, there's a side charger I've been eyeing for awhile but hasn't been in stock since the death of Christ. Figured that would be a better option to run suppressed, avoid gas in the face.

Trying to avoid gas in the face? This seems like a great option, assuming you don't need/want the forward assist. Seems reasonable to me though for the added benefit considering I don't use my FA

Change in direction. Nabbed one of these uppers before they sold out within a couple of hours. Seems like every couple of months a new batch is produced. Pictured on a pistol receiver I put together today as well.
