    Okla. Lawmakers Approve Guns-On-Campus Bill
State Rep. Ray McCarter Says It's 'The Craziest Thing' He's Ever Seen

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Lawmakers in Oklahoma are taking steps to allow people with specialized training to carry concealed weapons on college campuses.

A measure approved by the state House would authorize campus guns for people who've had special firearms training, including members of the military and honorably discharged veterans.

Supporters argue the measure would make campuses safer by putting guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens.

But given recent campus shootings around the nation, opponents have wasted no time registering objections.

State Rep. Ray McCarter called it "the craziest thing" he's ever seen, noting the campus-guns idea is also opposed by college administrators.

The measure now goes to the Oklahoma Senate.

Looks like it's only for active mil and vets (I'm assuming LEO can already carry on campus)?

I strongly disagree with any limitations on our rights or any "test" needed before exercising them but, with the near terms and realism in mind, how about this . . .

How about a law similar to LEOSA where if a law abiding citizen passes a LEO qualification test, (say, same course of fire as required for any rookie FBI special agent) they can carry nationwide, no questions asked, same as any LEO. Just about anyone can be trained to pass with some practice and they can't jigger the test to make it impossible if it has to be the same as for any FBI rookie.
