Pistol enthusiast looking to venture out. Help!
Hey guys,
I'm a pistol enthusiast thats looking to venture out of the indoor range! The max 25 yards, indoors area, restricted movement is really stifling at this point. I know nothing about firearm sports outside of the range. I know that gssf, idpa, and uspsa have some matches near allentown and nj. Does anyone run those events?
Also, how does one get into hunting game? I'm definitely willing to travel a good distance to get to shoot a weapon outdoors!
Any information for this newb would be much appreciatedKimber Warrior / G17 FDE / G19 / G26 / FNX45T / P226RE2

Lower Providence Rod and Gun club runs IDPA, every month. Also USPSA during the warmer months. The club is right off Rt 422 in Montco. Check out their web site for more info. These matches are open to the public.

The Lower Providence matches are really good. Just expect to spend the whole day there.
If you are new and just looking to check it out, Double Action in Yeadon has a really good Monday night match once a month that is just a few stages and only lasts a short time. Ted and Melissa Murphy run it and are really good at working with people new to the sport.-Tom

To answer your question about "getting into hunting game"...
Start out by taking a Hunter and Trapper Education class. These are offered at local gun clubs and other organizations. You must complete the class prior to purchasing a hunting license.

Hunter Ed is a must, but find yourself a friend, who's experienced hunter. First, you shouldn't go out into the woods alone, second, there are certain things, that Hunters ed doesn't cover and you just have to learn it from real hunter.
