Active Military CCW permit

I have a question about CCW. I am a resident of PA, In order to get my CCW permit i have to be 21 (which i am 18). I am currently stationed in Florida where I can get my CCW permit at 18 because i am in the active army. Will PA honor my CCW permit even though i am 18? Thank you! And does the pistol have to be in my name (gifted from father)? Thanks again!

If Florida allows a CCW issued at 18 and PA has reciprocity, you are good to go. A gifted pistol from your father is a legal transfer, again, good to go.

According to www.handgunlaw.us, Florida will issue to service members under 21.

Yes, Florida's CWP is valid in PA.

The age to possess a handgun is 18 in PA, the age to be eligible for a PA LTCF is 21. PA doesn't set an age to conceal directly, ...only indirectly by the age of possession and the age to get a LTCF. PA even issues a Sportsman Permit to those who are 18yo or older to CONCEAL while participating in hunting/fishing/trapping/dog training.

If you have a FL permit, and you are at least 18 - then you will be legal.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't being on active military duty an exception of the Pa carry law. In other words, permitted in Pa by an active duty service member. Same as a police officer being exempt from the licensing requirement.

Check the law, I really believe I read that in the Pa Code.

As twency mentioned - when on duty. Just being in the military isn't "on duty". On duty would be like the MP's escorting military personnel or contractor, of being placed on post to guard some location, or traveling in caravan/convoy, or participating in practices, etc, etc. Military personnel do have "off hours", which then the "on duty" exemption wouldn't cover.
