How soon would you put it back in the holster ?
Getting my CC firearm back from S&W after an extractor repair.
What benchmark(s) would you set before carrying it again ?/bug

Curious as to what model,I would do 100 target rounds, and at least 10 defense rounds, with no issues i would feel confident.

Personally no less than 100 rounds with out a malfunction would put me at ease.

I'd take it to the range, run 50-100 target rounds through it and then a full mag of your carry ammo.
If I had no other carry option and couldn't go to the range immediately, I would still carry
it in the meantime rather than nothing at all.

Re: How soon would you put it back in the holster ?
I'm sure S&W has a minimum standard of rounds to check a repair, but I doubt they spend too much time and ammo unless there's and obvious problem still in existance. Any number one picks is an arbitrary number, so I'd shoot as many as YOU need to feel comfortable that's it up to speed again. Personally, I'd shoot til I ran out of ammo, time, or trepidation. Just because it ran fine for 500 rounds doesn't mean it won't malf on #501, and just because it malfed on #5 doesn't mean it will malf on #6. There are no guarantees. Murphy always lurking.

Re: How soon would you put it back in the holster ?
I once had a Glock 27 that had some issues. Glock quickly remedied the issues FOR FREE and shipped the piece back to me. As ridiculous as it sounds, I sold it two days later. I know that I would have been fine carrying it, but I couldn't get it out of my head that the firearm had failed while at the range. I didn't take a loss when I sold it, so I was ultimately fine with my decision. I do carry a Glock to this day, but just not THAT one. I know, I am crazy.
