Gun Control Debate
We have two smart people passionate about their ideals to represent each side. We will start the questioning addressing the issue of ethics and let the audience ask prepared questions after that. So please prepare any question that you would like to ask our debaters, and them post it to this meetup site so it is available for all to review.

Re: Gun Control Debate
I don't know why they don't name the debaters, but I'm the one taking the pro gun side. RSVP, come out & support gun rights with your questions.

Re: Gun Control Debate
Just a bump in the form of a reminder that the debate is this Sunday. Go to it if you can.

Re: Gun Control Debate
Man, I wish I had made it to this (or had the opportunity to take part in it). Is there a transcript or video of it available anywhere?

Re: Gun Control Debate
It went very well. I don't think my opponent really made her case very well. Many in the audience said so. Then again, she was pretty middle of the road favoring gun control rather than gun banning. This surprised me, I expected to go up against a real gun hater.
They filmed the whole thing. As soon as it's online I'll post a link.

Re: Gun Control Debate
Thanks for the follow up. Glad it went well, who was the woman? CeasefirePA rep? What were her qualifications? Are you a member of this group, and how did they find you? And her?
Sorry for the questions, I just like to know who is repping gun rights in a public setting.NRA Training Counselor, Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Benefactor Member

Re: Gun Control Debate
"His articles have also appeared in American Juror, OpEdNews.com, the Libertarian Penn, and the Nolanchart.com. News services such as the New York Post.com and Rational Review have published links to his work. Darren is the Philadelphia area contact for Come Home America (http://comehomeamerica.us/), a politically neutral peace movement."

Re: Gun Control Debate
I also see he was a supporter of the Occupy Philly movement, and is/was the Chester County Representative for Ron Paul. What I do not see is any pedigree in gun laws and gun support positions.
I'm sure Darren is a great guy, and a true libertarian. I know now that we have met in Phoenixville. What I would like to know is how he was chosen to speak in this forum to represent the ethical side of gun rights? He is a free man, and can do what he wants. My question only comes from the position of gun owner in this case. What training, education or influence does he have to represent gun owners in an ethics discussion. Why would he?
Kim Stolfer, Joshua Prince and and other credentialed, knowledgeable folks in PA that are also bloggers, (Like Sebastian at http://www.pagunblog.com/ ) were not contacted.
Why were these people unaware of this "discussion?" After reviewing the picture and seeing the folks sitting around the table, it seems obvious.
I worry when anyone I do not know represents my interests. I am happy this worked out for the best, but it could also be ANTI's gathering intel on our positions and strategies for continuing to make them them irrelevant.
There is another thread running on PAFOA about Ceasefire PA having a neighborhood get together to gather new members and funds. We should be careful not to feed the squirrels.
OK, I have said my peace. Be vigilant and expect them to cheat.NRA Training Counselor, Chief Range Safety Officer, NRA Benefactor Member
