Looking for shooting ranges in Pittsburgh.
Being very new to Pittsburgh and I am looking for an outdoor range which has a good length range for me to go and spend some time while looking for a job.
Please be detailed so I can find it or look it up on line,
I used to belong to a shooting assoc which had range up to 100 yards and was very quiet and safe with club house, Bathrooms and a key of my own, Yes it was a private club and would love to find another,
Also looking for a free range too,
Please any information would be great !
Thank you
Peter B

Pred,
It would help to know what side of town you are living in.

Only public free range in the greater Pittsburgh area I'm aware of is the Wexford SGL. See http://forum.pafoa.org/allegheny-27/...xford-sgl.html.
The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their right names.

Re: Looking for shooting ranges in Pittsburgh.
As SGL ranges require a $30 permit or a hunting licence to use they are not free anymore. But unlike a club there is no formal membership process. You can either use your hunting licence or go to the website and pay $30 and print out a permit.
I do live close to the Wexford SGL range and have a current permit. But I still make the drive to PMSC where I am also a member more often because of better facilities and less restrictive rules as it relates to magazine capacity, drawing from a holster, etc.
There are others in the area, but I am not familiar with them.Last edited by QuackXP; October 21st, 2012 at 09:00 AM.

Re: Looking for shooting ranges in Pittsburgh.
I literally just applied to Library Sportsman's Club this week, after getting a quick tour. Very nice facility.
Seems to be heavily geared towards trap/skeet, and has some rules that I don't understand/agree with, but if your south of town, it would definately be worth looking into.

Another one that is south of town is East Monongahela Sportsman Club. I'm a member there and it is a nice facility with 100 yard pistol range and 300 yard rifle range. If interested, pm me as you will need a sponsor to join.

Just out of curiosity, where is East Mon. located? Have a feeling, in the next year or two, I'll be looking for somewhere different.

Well, crap. You just missed the group shoot yesterday at PMSC.
Yeah, you need to tell us what part of town you're in, as there are clubs convenient to almost everyone.
Welcome to the Burgh!I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
