Work Firearm Policy
My employer's weapons policy is referenced below. What are your thoughts on carrying at work with a valid LTCF? Is there a legal definition for "local"?
No Weapons on Premises Policy
"XYZ Company" is committed to providing a secure work environment for employees and visitors. To achieve these objectives, the Company expects employees to adhere to acceptable business principles in matters of personal conduct.
Consistent with this principle, "XYZ Company" has determined that it is not in its best interests to permit individuals to bring weapons (lethal or non-lethal, or explosives) onto Company premises, unless legally permitted by local statute and then only in strict compliance with local statute. Having weapons anywhere on Company premises, or carrying them in a Company leased or rented vehicle while on Company business, is strictly prohibited.

Re: Work Firearm Policy
Your employers policy is contradictory and unclear. You need to ask for clarification from someone with the authority to make a decision on the intent of the policy.

Re: Work Firearm Policy
The policy is probably ambiguous for a reason. I'm guessing its a national company just by the wording. Local municipalities here generally dont set firearms policies(except Philly), but do elsewhere in the country. The policy isn't tailored to Pa laws, its written very broadly so it can be used universally throughout the various established locations.

Re: Work Firearm Policy
What about Philly's status as a "city of the first class"? Not arguing, looking for clarification/education. If I'm wrong, I want to know. I don't want to spread false or misleading info.

Re: Work Firearm Policy
I think you should ask your HR department. They should be able to tell you what the policy means. For example mine says you can't have a gun in your vehicle while at work. I went to them and inquired about the rule. I spoke with our VP of HR and I am allowed to carry my gun since it is locked in my lockbox in my jeep. Their HR not the devil... talk to them
