Montco Gun buy back Sat 9/29
Anybody who is interested I'm thinking about going to see if there are any historical or valuable arms I can save from destruction by hanging out outside.

Anyone with a firearm can turn it in to police — no questions asked — this Saturday at the New Bethel AME Church, 1646 Prospect Ave., in Willow Grove.
The gun collection initiative is under the auspices of police departments in Upper Moreland, Abington and Upper Dublin in conjunction with the Bridging Our Communities group.
The group was formed after the July 17 shooting death of William Butler, 27, on North Hills Avenue in Abington. Andre Dula, 23, of Glenside, has been charged with first-degree murder in Butler’s death.
The sponsors said people turning in guns to police will not be asked for identification. Firearms must be real. No pellet or BB guns will be accepted.
All guns turned in must be unloaded. Police will decided whether a firearm qualifies for a Giant market gift card — $75 for a handgun, $125 for a rifle. Giant Food Stores is the financial sponsor of this event.
Police said that officers in an unmarked police car will pick up any firearm from anyone who is afraid to bring the weapon to the church. People who would want the gun removed by police are asked to call the church at 215-659-5184.
Every gun collected will be destroyed, police said.

Re: Montco Gun buy back Sat 9/29
I'm surprised they're having this worthless feel-good program in Willow Grove and not Norristown. They usually do this stuff in the high crime areas. Now if I can figure out how they can buy back something they never owned or sold to begin with.
Hafa Adai! IANAL I merely state my opinion. If I am wrong, please correct me.

Forgive my ignorance but do people really show up to turn in guns for this? If so, I'd be interested in going over and bringing cash instead of a gift card to help the folks out.

I'm there now.lots of turn in s, but police say they "won't let" private sales happen. Then said there is soliciting ordinance . I don't think it's applicable. Will stick around for now.

I would stop by with my bushel basket full of junky old break-top revolvers but the "police will decide" part of the article worries me.
Being a little cynical of police in general, I would not be surprised if they confiscate without recompense.Crusader's local #556 South Central Asia chapter

No law that says you cant talk to people. Meet them somewhere else.
If the police are so interested in "law" ask then how they are accepting firearm transfers without an FFL present or how they aren't trying to determine if the firearms are stolen and locating the owner, or enforcing people driving to the event with firearms with a LTCF or....
