porcupines in pike county?
Im fairly certain I had one of these cross the road in front of me the other night when i was driving home. I didnt get a good look but it was either a large raccoon or a monstrous size possum if it was not a porcupine. it went a good 40 pounds Id say.
has anyone else came across a porcupine in pike? more speciifically the dingmans ferry milford area? if it was it was defniitely a first for me.

They are all over this general area. I have seen several alive and dead in my 36 years here.

Re: porcupines in pike county?
I'd probably bet cash money that it was a porcupine, I have actually seen more in the last 4 years of commuting in Wayne/Pike counties than I have seen in the previous 25 years of my life. Routes 402 and 6 are my regular routes and I'd say in the last year I have probably seen 5 dead on the road.

We see them here in Bushkill every once in a while. One was hit and killed in the road just up from my house last year.

Re: porcupines in pike county?
Its good to know I'm not crazy. My only other thought was it was a rabid possum or coon. It was huge too so it was a good thing it wasnt

Don't forget beaver, with all the swamps drying out they have been on the move also. As for bears I've seen 9 different bears in 6 weeks. 2 right in my backyard.

Know a man that runs hounds for bobcat and he said they jumped a bunch of fishers last year. This is around Gouldsboro.
