I use the range on 93 myself. I haven't seen any trash in the last year or so.

Palmerton Rod and Gun is 11 miles from Jim Thorpe.

    300 yds available.

No sponsor needed, just go to the monthly meeting.

I use the range on Rt 93 every couple of weeks. It's hit or miss as far as the level of incompetence your fellow shooters. Some weeks very nice and cordial people then you have weeks where you need to wait to get out of the car because kids are swinging weapons in every direction. Yesterday was "gang camera day". Pose with your friends piece, take a phone camera picture of yourself shooting one handed... whew. If it looks like a bunch of cowboys, I stay in the car or go home after 20 minutes or so. Time to join a club, I think. I heard Beaver Run near Lehighton is a nice range.

You might try Beaver Run again. I went to the clubhouse on a Sunday afternoon, rang the buzzer to get in, and asked the restaurant manager about membership. She signed me up on the spot and gave me a temporary card. A few weeks later a permanent one arrived in the mail.
It's a good group of people, very much family oriented. If you just want to shoot, and not get too involved with all the social events, weekday mornings are best as it gets busy on weekends. The ranges are clean and backboards are replaced often.
There's Andreas Sportsmens' club off 895 in West Penn but that's at least 30 minutes from Jim Thorpe. Pretty rustic ranges but it's not used too much and the shooters I've seen are all responsible type guys.

+1 on beaver run. Nice range and usually not too crowded. I am also a member at Mauch chunk gun club. It is ok for a quick trip as it is right in JT. THe problem is that the pistol and rifle range are the same thing so it is basically a one man at a time range. Beaver run would be a better choice for someone who wants to shoot and go in and they will sponsor you on the spot.

I was a member of beaver run. I went to the bar when it was open and chatted up the bartender and she signed as my sponsor. I am sure if you go to the bar when it is open talk to someone, you will not have a problem getting a sponsor.

Your best bet is to become a member of a club because you'll get fined if you try to set up targets at a sgl range
