Default Can anyone help me ID this Rifle.

I just purchase this .25-06 with a Flaig Ace barrel.
I am wondering if this rifle was built at Flaigs Gunshop? If so what year?

    Thanks

Don't know anything other than it's got a nice trigger.

it is a 03 or o3a3 action. heavy modified. the bolt gives it away.

I was hoping that someone could tell me if it was a rifle built by Flaigs or if I could find out any way to ID Flaig built rilfes.

It may have been a build using Flaigs Ace barrel which Flaig was selling at the time. They did have a preference for 98 actions but did work with others.

A write up on Flaig rifles courtesy of Gun Digest 1970.
The Ace bolt action centerfire rifle is the latest addition to Flaif's line of fine imported sporting guns. The Ace, based based on the Mauser 98 all-steel action, carries a 24" Boehler-steel, button-rifled tube with six grooves. The open rear sight is marked for 100 and 200 yards, and the hooded ramp front sight carries a gold bead. The bolt knob is knurled and the handle is forged low for scope mounting; the action is tapped for U.S. scope mounts. A side safety and Sako trigger are standard equipment.
The checkered pistol grip stock is of Circassion walnut, the frip cap and fore end are of rosewood. There is a good rubber recoil pad, and the gun comes with 1" swivels. Without scope the Ace goes 7 1/2 lbs. This new offering is offered is made in 243, 7x57, 270, 308, 30-06-- and in 25-06! At long last, huh? In standard calibers, $135, in 25-06, including one fired case, $145. Made in Ferlach, the Ace carries Austrian proofmarks, of course.

The Timney trigger is different then the above description but all my Flaigs do have the Timney.

I saw a Flaigs 1940 ad that listed both the 98 and the 1903 as available for the same cost.

The Guns Magazine's from 1955 and later, lists the Fiddle back Maple stocks in the ad.

I was hoping that there would be a ID mark that would tell me if Flaigs built it.

The barrel has a date of 3/4/59 which is an early Ace barrel.

I have the 1964 Flaigs catalog that doesn’t list Springfield actions but does list that they can build actions with Ace barrels ,fitting stocks with Checkering as an additional cost, Polished bolt, Timney triggers, Pachmayr recoil pad , Buehler safety and Weaver K all of which are fitted on this rifle. The only thing that is not Flaigs is the Michaels’ engraved trigger guard hinged floor plate.

I was thinking that it might have been ordered as a simple custom rifle to keep cost down.

Thanks for any help in try to ID this rifle.

Looks like you have it pretty well nailed. I have two Flaig built rifles. One in 30-06 which has beautiful wood but not to adorned. The other was built in the 70's for a vice president of GM and is a beautifully stocked mannlicher in 6mm Rem. I believe both barrels are Douglas which Flaig did use before offering the Ace barrel.
