Default M&P Shields at Ace - SW PA

Just a heads up. I've been looking for a Shield for a while now and having no luck. I got one from Ace in Washington, PA. The dude who sold me mine told me that they just got a shipment in, not sure how many though.

A little pricey at $469 out the door, but it's been a long wait for me.

    So, if you've been looking...

Big thanks for the heads up! I went down to Ace after work tonight and picked up a Shield in 9mm. Heading to the range tomorrow after work.

Glad to help. I figured that I wasn't the only person who's been looking.

I just had some range time with my .40 tonight and it's FREAKIN' AWESOME. Recoil feels softer than my G23. One guy I talked to said that the 9 feels like an airgun.

Although, I'll warn you... Your thumbs are gonna be sore. The mags are crazy hard to load all the way.

I'm jealous. I've been on a waiting list at my local FFL for the 9mm for over 2 months now.
I would rather die in a shootout than get assassinated in a "gun free zone"

I rented one in 9mm at Anthony Arms a few months ago but they had none for sale...and (oddly, I thought) wouldn't put me on a list or take a deposit.

I was amazed how butter smooth everything was. Uber-accurate at 7 and 10 yards and easily emptying a mag into a silhouette at 20 yards.

Being significantly smaller and lighter than my G19 I was stunned at the light recoil. After my first shot I remember actually stopping and looking at the Shield with surprise.

I did something I didn't think I'd ever do. I bought this for my wife without her ever firing one or even touching one. A firearm has to be a perfect fit for someone. But I felt I needed to grab one when I could.

Then last night I found myself telling her that if she doesn't like it or if it doesn't feel right or if she just wanted something else....well...we'll go get her something else. Because I'd gladly keep it for myself.

Thanks for the heads up though.

    Not a bad price really.

    $469.15 was out the door.

Ace is selling the Shield at $437.88 which is about $11 UNDER msrp.

    Holy Markup, indeed.

I think it is a bit high...tax and FFL fee don't add up to $70, as most places (at least when the Shield first came out) had them listed at $399. Depending on how much the shop likes to charge for the FFL fee, and if they don't charge extra for credit (which many do) a Shield should cost $425-430 out the door.

I absolutely love the idea behind this gun. I handled one back-to-back with an M&P9 Compact at the Oaks show two shows ago and it felt great. I still think the Compact is for me (fits/fills my hands better), but keep being sorely tempted by the Shield due to how thin it is (easier to conceal...I have no intentions of open carrying) and apparently how nice it is to shoot. Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere remotely close to me (SE PA) that has one available to shoot.

Should cost and you can't find them anywhere else are two different things. If you know of a location that has them for $399+tax I will probably buy 2 (9mm).
