    Nice piece,
    Your sig needs updated:

I've got the "New Gun Butterflies" like you wouldn't believe.

I have an HBE COM3 IWB and mag carrier that should be here in about 3-4 days that Jess offered for an additional $100, and I also have two existing orders out for a UBG Canute and a Milt Sparks Versa Max II on order. 4-6 weeks for the Canute, another 5 months on the Sparks rig.

I'm thinking some 15rd nickel Mecgar mags need to be ordered...

If you don't mind the suggestion, I wouldn't go with the Mecgars. I've never had any luck with them in my Brownings and there is no reason to believe that the would work any better in your baby. Constant FTFs and occasionally they wouldn't lock the slide back after the last round.

However I got two mecgar mags for my kimber 1911 and so far so good, not a single failure yet (500 round thru them).

Unhappy Re: My New FN HP.

This is the strange part. I've been strictly using Browning mags in the HiPowers but they are supposedly made by Mecgar. From what I understand Browing has had Mecgar as their sole source for OE mags so I just don't understand the situation at all. Perhaps I just got a couple of bad ones but that has been my experience.

    Bill,

Are you using Browning 13 rounders, and tried Mecgar 15 rounders?

I've heard of a possible issue with the chopped skirt on the 15 round follower, but that one issue really doesn't seem plausible.

I was kind of curious as to what you were using as like you said, the Browning mags are reported to be made by Mecgar.

I'm getting a factory (Mecgar) 13 rd and an after market 15/17 round convertible mag from the smith who did the FN, and he guarantees these two mags.

I was wanting to go with the 15s over the 13's solely because more ammo is always good.

I think I'm going to buy a Browning "factory" 13rd mag, a Mecgar 13rd mag, and a Mecgar 15 round mag, see what works best and go from there.

    Thanks for the feedback.

I use Browning 13s at this point. IIRC it was Mecgar 15s that I had problems with but it was two or three years ago and I'm starting to suffer from CRS so... It won't hurt to try all three and see what works for you. Like I said, it could be that I just got a couple of bad mags.
