Default Gun Refinishing in Eastern (or Central) PA?

One of the list of 'projects' I'll get started on over the winter is a refinish on an older Smith 586 (no dash). No rust pitting, but 'blotchy' finish on the bluing...

It doesn't have to remain blue (chrome, nickel, etc) might work. Trying to get a durable finish from a (reasonably) local business...that way I can drop it off and pick it up whenever it's done without having to worry about the hassles of shipping.

    Any suggestions?

Dale at Big Sky Gun Shop can hot blue it for you and is local. The shop he works at is just north of Quakertown. They are open Wed. - Fri. 10am - 5pm and Sat. 9-3.

    His number is 267-347-4522.

This guy had his Enfield done by Dale a few months ago.

There is a guy here on the forums from Easton that does it. He's gotten a lot of good reviews too.

I'll call and ask.....however, it looks like they do pistols, not revolvers (a bit different when you have to unscrew the bbl)....

I will check with both places...and any other suggestions would be welcome.

    Thanks!

Check with Charlie at Precision Armaments, Inc. locate outside of Slatington on PA. Route 873. Have several weapons refinished by him and more than happy with the way they turned out.

I know you'd prefer not to ship it, but if it's a S&W, I think you can have the factory refinish it for you (not to knock any local guys, but it will probably be the best finish). I've been researching that for an old .38 I have that needs to be redone.

Other than that, I've heard great things about Brian at Easton Firearms Refinishing. He's a member on here so I'm sure you'll be able to find him with relative ease.

The S&W refinish is my 'baseline'...I've heard about $250 for it, but it looks factory new when it gets back. Just seeing what else is out there.

I'm in the State College area and do firearm refinishing in Cerakote. I do long arms, pistols and revolvers. Here's a Ruger I did in two tone (Graphite Black and Blue Titianium, with some jeweling work):

Jeweling is hit or miss, IMO. Sort of like chrome-it either works or doesn't.

    That GP-100 is a hit.

Sorry, It's not a GP100 actually it is a late 70's Security Six (heavy barrel). I got it pretty cheap as it was a basket case (the outside, the barrel and cylinder internals were in great condition).
