"Hey buddy, can I ask you a question?"
Playing with the kids this morning outside in front of my house, and this guy in a work van stops and says, "Hey buddy, can I ask you a question?"
me: Sure, whats up?
him: Whats with the gun?
me: What about it?
him: You were making my daughter a little nervous walking your dogs past our
house the other day.
me: The problem doesn't sound like my gun. It sounds like the problem is your
parenting skills. Do you teach her that good guys carry guns too and that
OC is legal in PA?
him: I know all that. I have guns and all my friends have guns. I just don't
see a need to open carry.
me: I see more than a few reasons (as I looked at my kids). I guess I
love my family more than you do. (He just stares blankly at me. At this
point, I've grown bored of the convo.) Tell ya what, lets just leave it at
its my right.
him: N its my right to ask.
me: Have a good day.
Honestly, I wanted to answer thats its my right to tell you to go f*** yourself. However, I restrained myself.

Eh...I don't know that telling the man he doesn't love his family because he chooses not to open carry was entirely inappropriate, but it sounds like he wasn't the most friendly person, either. If he has a problem with it, he can either educate his daughter, or make her wear a blindfold.
Who knows, maybe the latter will come in handy when she comes of age.

Sounds like you forced it down the path of a conflict when he was trying to get it down the path of a conversation.

Re: "Hey buddy, can I ask you a question?"
Lol I've said worse. I'm not the kind of guy you swing on. N its my business to know how to deal with that. This was the first time I addressed ignorance with ignorance. I've been extremely friendly and tolerant of everything from women threatening their kids in Blockbuster that I will shoot them, to idiots driving by "shooting at me" with their fingers, to the local LEOs harassing me last year. I respect the hell out of activists like Viper who seek to educate the public. However, I do what I do for MY reasons and am no longer gonna try and justify what is legal to someone who comes off like an idiot. You want to ask me civilly, I will respond likewise.

Re: "Hey buddy, can I ask you a question?"
I'm not entirely sold on the guys comment that it scared his little girl. Little kids don't scare easily. They are VERY inquisitive and curious though. I could see this happening: Daddy, I saw a man walking his dog and guess what? He had a gun on his belt. Was he a cop Daddy?
Of course 'Daddy' being a good dad, would have asked a few questions and explained it to his daughter. Great ending!
OR
Of course, Daddy being a liberal whining, sissy, panty-wearing, bed-wetter, jumps in his van and drives to your house and cries like a little mama's boy about you scaring him and his wife, and making his kids ask questions.
Which do you think is closer to what actually happened?
