    Default ar15 for $589

What do you guys think? I've never found one that cheap and building would be around 600 anyhow... Seems to be a lot of decent prices on there.

From what I've read, Olympic doesn't have a very good reputation. I don't know from experience. If you want to go that route CMMG has bargain bin rifles for $570. See here http://cmmginc.secure-mall.com/shop/...006938&cat=33& . There's a long thread about them at ar15.com and not one bad review.

THIS is the route to take, NOT the olympic route.

    Kaos,

A friend of mine had an Olympic AR. For "problems" are you asking about when the lower broke around the threading for the buffer tube? Or the continuous feeding issues he had with his Oly AR?

Go with the bargain bin CMMG. Can't beat it for the price.

On a different note - I hear Olympic actually has some really nice barrells.

Edit: also, try calling Pete at Legal Transfers at ar15sales.com - he may have something lying around the shop for sale cheap. I think a 'bone stock' rra through him will be in that ballpark.

    I just wondering.

Im going a build from all used parts to put it up against another AR for fun.

So far my out of pocket cost is looking to be around 400, but def under 450

Not sure why buying a used rifle would be better than buying a new rifle with a lifetime warrantee. I know a few guys who shoot Oly's and I have yet to hear any compaints.

I sold my old Oly because it wouldn't feed worth a shit, wouldn't extract half the time, and getting through to Olympic Arms on their BS lifetime warranty was IMPOSSIBLE.

What the fuck good is a warranty if they won't respond to you?

Olympics are fucking junk, and their customer service is even worse. Fuck them.

As to why a "used rifle" as you call it is better, besides for what I said above, they are all practically new (i.e. unfired and in perfect condition, including cosmetic) and more importantly, are QUALITY AR15's.

i take all the good press, and bad press with a giant grain of salt. for every 10 people that hated their oly's, there are 10 more that love them. i usually take the opinions to help me support a decision as opposed to keep me from getting what i want.

ps. my brother has 2 oly's and nare a problem, one in 5.56 and one in 9mm

50% success rate doesn't sound too promising .

BTW, Olympic AR's are NOT mil spec. That's a huge reason right there to go with CMMG bargain bin rifles which ARE milspec. So generally out of spec, cast receivers (I think they might have some forged floating around), crappy finish, chrome lined barrels not standard, 1:10 twist standard as opposed to 1:9 (though you can order different rates, and I have heard that the barrels they have been making are half decent), and the shittiest customer support I've ever experienced.
