Prison Shows
MSNBC and National Geographic have some awesome prison shows as of late. I don't know why but I am absolutely addicted to these. Anyone else catch these?

Re: Prison Shows
I watch them all the time to. I saw the one were the inmate made a shotgun out of some kind of a tube, used ground up match heads as gun powder, and parts of a zipper for buckshot, i thought that was pretty crazy

Re: Prison Shows

Re: Prison Shows
I never found anything 'really good' as a CO. Dumb stuff like porn. Once I did find a razor without the blade... but the inmate said he told the block officer about it when it broke. I checked and what do you know.. an honest criminal (ONCE).

Re: Prison Shows
LOL, I think I failed my interview with Monroe county jail because I said something like that. The LT. gave me a scenario. I told him you had to consider the source of the information (the inmate). He asked me if I thought inmates lied. "If they were honest people, they wouldn't be in jail." Deer in the headlights look........end of interview.

Re: Prison Shows
i have been watching them now and then and think its pretty scary the way some of these places are run more by gangs than guards...
my father was a CO fro 22 years at a state prison, safely made it out of 3 riots 2 of which were real bad, he has told me some stories that made me shiver...

Re: Prison Shows
99% of the stuff that happens in a STATE jail never makes the press.... its all to common (assaults on staff, fights, drugs). Unless someone dies or lifeflight comes, it ain't making the papers.
I am not into rehabilitation. Jail is punishment. After jail, then they go see the counselors and get gym passes, library cards etc. If they pass that then they get set loose.
I see now that minor drug offenses in NY(?) are being let out. I'm cool with non-violent drug offenders... as long as the state has given me ability to defend myself. Otherwise, keep them locked up and away from me.

Re: Prison Shows
The only thing I've ever seen on those shows is a POS behind bars. Guess I must be missing something..........
