Default anyone here use software to keep firearms records

not talking about records that a dealer would keep, but something more along the lines of inventory, maintenance logs, shooting logs, etc...

I always used a notebook for this, than recently started doing it with Excel..

Just curious is anyone uses commerical software...

I just use a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet to log where I bought it, serial #, make/model, how much I paid, approx present value, and to whom I sold it to.

I use a Google Doc spreadsheet to keep track of all the particulars like DOP, trips to the range and rounds shot, any maintenance or upgrades. I scan all of my receipts, transfers, everything. No matter how trivial. I've photographed my entire inventory including close-ups of the serials. I photograph any new additions within forty-eight hours of them coming home and joining the rest of my firearm family. I email everything to a dedicated Gmail account (same one with the spreadsheet) that I have set aside for firearm stuff only.

I've lost a hard drive before. And everything on it. Never again.

Pictures and video of all I own.

Thought about logs but what are they really for?

Maybe when I get my first 1911.
