Default If you could only have one firearm, what would it be?

It's kind of a horrible thought, but if you could only have one firearm to keep for the rest of your life, what would it be.

Don't cheat by saying something with multiple barrels. One gun that will have to do it all.

We talked about this at work. Tough choice as everything seems to lack something. We could not agree, but I stood firm on my choice... a 12 ga pump shotgun. Others made decent arguments for their choices.

    What say you?

I agree with this. It's a tough choice but saiga is pretty universal.

I've never fired a Saiga before so I don't know much about them.

I would have to say an SKS. The action is the same as the AK-47 but it has much more of a standard rifle feel to it. Also, comparing one side-by-side with an AK, the SKS turned out to be quite a bit more accurate. The additional weight offered on the front end also helped keep the barrel on target for follow-up shots. Since the action is built around an AK, you can still clean it with a rag covered in dirty motor oil at the end of the day and it will still shoot just fine.

I can certainly see the benefit to a shotgun, especially one with slugs, but I would personally still prefer a rifle.

I"ll narrow this down even further. Of the guns I currently own, I'd have to go with my AK.
