Default Fun at the Range with Foreign Visitors

Over the last few years, my wife and I have introduced quite a few foreign visitors to shooting. Recently, we joined couchsurfing.org, an online travel community where you host visitors at home and stay with hosts when traveling. When we host, we make it very clear that we are firearms and shooting enthusiasts and invite all of our guests to the range. ALL of them, all first-time shooters, accepted with great enthusiasm. We have also taken people who we couldn't host to the range to the same effect.

Here are some photos of the first 3 sets of surfers that we hosted.

    R. from Sweden, BEST natural shooter I came across. This is his first 10-round group ever, with a Glock 19 at 21'!

R.'s girlfriend, also Swedish, with the AK

    S. from Italy, 2nd set with Glock 19, 21'

    S.'s college friend with AR15

    M. and S. After the shoot

    L. from France, with AR15

L.'s friend, after the first shot with a Mossberg 500 Persuader

    L. after the shoot

Anyway, every single one we took out absolutely loved the experience. Some were much more natural that others, but they all did very well. This is the one piece of Americana that they will never forget when they return home. More importantly, they now view firearms in much more positive light than before.

Thought I'd share that with you.

    Al

    PS: This was R.'s 2nd 10-round set with the G19 at 21'!

This one almost looks like a scene out of the old batman series.

All you need is a big cartoon 'BANG' in the picture.

Good job on getting new people to shoot.

awesome, I introd some canadians to shooting a few years ago... one of themposted a pic in Ca and got a visit from a RCMP detective that was too stupid to understand that the shooting was done in NORTH CAROLINA, UNITED STATES even tho every photo was clearly tagged as such

he also found out which "friend" reported him, stasi style.

Awesome! Always a good thing to introduce others to the wonderful world of shooting! I felt good teaching my girlfriend, but teaching those who may not have gun rights in their own countries is pretty cool. +Rep!

Stop teasing the foreigners, Al! That's like offering a Pringles chip and stopping them just at one.

I've taught many, many first time shooters and nothing beats the glowing smiles and continued excitement long after the session.

Hahahaha...I hear you! The Italian girl kept saying how she really want to get a license and go shooting when she gets back to Italy.

This is very cool, but you need to take them to an outdoor range where they can blow shit up. That would really get them going.
