Gun Owner Saves Cop's Life by Shooting Deranged Gunman! (VIDEO)
http://www.guns.com/texas-gun-owner-...out-10236.html
"Stacy raised his gun, fired, and landed one hell of a shot – by his estimate “a good 165 yards” – with a pistol (we do not know the make or caliber at this time). Stacy wasn’t even sure if he could make the shot at that distance: “I hope this magnum bullet’ll hold up, you know, this distance. And sure enough it did and I hit him in the thigh.”
At that point, Conner returned fire against Stacy with his AR-15. He missed his shot, luckily, but that gave dead-eye Stacy another opportunity to pull the trigger. Stacy “hit him again and put three more in him … The patrolman got two shots in him with that AR-15. And it seems like he’s all over with, then.”Its easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled....Mark Twain

I learned something growing up in Texas...never let the truth get in the way of a good story. I'm inclined to believe the distance was probably 165 feet, not yards. Either way, good shooting.

I wanted to add this link to this thread for one reason.

From the article:
"Sheriff Grubbs also noted that some may take this opportunity to promote gun control; however he felt it is an example of the right to bear arms.
"Had this citizen not had a gun, this could have been a whole lot worse" said Grubbs.
Happy to hear the sherrif say this.

I'm a pretty damn good shot at 100yrds with my mod 29 s/w .44
I can see that happening with no problem (the man with the 357).
If you know your gun and use the same load every time, you can get REAL good.
Friends always ask me what guns i would take with me if the shtf, i always say my .44 because i can shoot it.

I sometimes wonder about getting caught in the middle of a scenario like this. It would be easy for the responding officer to mistake you for another enemy shooter and go after you as well. But, at the same time I don't think I could live with myself if I watched someone (Law enforcement or civilian) get pinned down and then taken out when there was something I could have done to help.
Glad to see the Sheriff acknowledged this. Sounds like the kind of elected official I would want leading my county, that's for sure.
We're all citizen soldiers. In this kind of situation that is exactly how we should respond: run towards the sound of the guns.
