LTCF Question

Hi,

Lots of good info here, been reading for a minute but this is my first post here. Please excuse if this question is simple, tried a search for it but didn't get a definitive answer.

Here goes:

I am a student at a university in Philadelphia, and I live off-campus in Philadelphia. My permanent address is in Montgomery County (where I file taxes and still keep financial stuff at, etc.) I currently rent an apartment in Philadelphia, but its not my permanent address.

I'm considering applying for LTCF, and was curious as to whether I should do it in Montgomery County, as that's where my permanent residence is at. If I do so, would I have any problems in Philadelphia (outside what I've read here about the difficulty of city politics regarding LTCF) with the fact that my permit was issued in Montgomery County?

I'm not sure what my plans are after graduating, whether I'm going to stay in Philadelphia or relocate to another city, and that's why I haven't changed my address to the city. Plus I am under the impression that as long as I am a student, I am entitled to keep a permanent address that is not necessarily where I attend school.

Any help with this would be great.

When I went to PSU Main campus, I kept my permanent address. Never had a problem.

Whatever address is on your drivers license is your permanent address until you change it.

A LTCF issued by ANY county is valid ANYWHERE in the state, Philadelphia included - regardless of what any sheriff or PPD officer has told you.

18 PAC §6109(a)

A license to carry a firearm shall be for the purpose of carrying a firearm concealed on or about one's person or in a vehicle throughout this Commonwealth.

So, go to the county that is listed as your residence on your Drivers License, and get your LTCF.

If you can, and if you have a Montgomery County address on your drivers license, get your licenses there. Philadelphia County makes getting and keeping a license more difficult, they have a history of capriciously revoking licenses. A license issued by any county is valid throughout the commonwealth.
