I need a fast and easy stripper.
We just took on a new project at work. It involves a lot of 3 conductor power cords. I have an oportunity to keep the scraps (about 4 feet of copper wire from each). I was thinking I'd collect them and take them to the recycler for ammo money, but for it to be worth it, I need a fast and easy way to strip the insulation off.

Razor blade down the length of the wire. There is nothing faster by hand.

Re: I need a fast and easy stripper.
YOu need one of these:
NM Cable Ripper - 8-14 AWG
* An easy-to-use cable ripper.
* Slits the outer jacket of Romex® cable (all sizes) and other nonmetallic (type NM) sheathed cable.
* Measures conductor wire gauge from 8 to 14 AWG.
Klein Tool part number 74017
Then for the inner insulation, if you are really serious about it, you can either burn it off in a 55 gallon drum, or do what I did ages ago and rig up a jig with a razor in the middle of it that you dragged the individual wires through.

Re: I need a fast and easy stripper.
Leave the scraps in plain view just inside the front gate. You should find the stripped casings in the morning. That should work.
I'm sure most of us have stories about people stealing copper, people electrocuted stealing copper, etc. I have one. I was working at a powerplant that had been shut down about 20 years prior. We opened the door to a room about 30' x 10' and found conductor casing 1-1/2 foot deep wall to wall. I was stunned. Not only did they steal all the conductor, they stripped it all onsite and spent the time to cleanly fill a room with it. And these guys either had some balls or some gear because once we found the casings we started noticing all the places from which the lines had been removed and some of them seemingly would have taken a crane to get to.

Re: I need a fast and easy stripper.
The stripper like lildobe showed will work for the outside insulation. But not the ones directly on the wire. Depending on how much you have, not that I am condoning anything....but plastic will melt before copper will.
