Colt Series 70 reissue
Found a good deal on a colt series 70reissue (O1970A1CS) that is tempting me.
Anyone have thoughts on these? Did a brief google search and found mostly positive comments but figured Id ask here.

Re: Colt Series 70 reissue
I got the stainless version (1070) for Christmas. The only difference I found are the sights -- they're larger on the reissue. I did a side-by-side comparison in another post (link).
Regarding PAFOA discussion on the Series 70 re-issue, take your pick:

Mine:
Gloria: "65 percent of the people murdered in the last 10 years were killed by hand guns"
Archie Bunker: "would it make you feel better, little girl, if they was pushed outta windows?"

Re: Colt Series 70 reissue
I think they are a fine pistol. However, in that price range, I would tend to the Dan Wesson heritage.

Re: Colt Series 70 reissue
The Dan Wessons are made with all machined parts. The frame to slide fit is always very tight. Dan Wesson does a very good job with a tight barrel/bushing/slide fit. They are just very solid right out of the box. I'd try to get my hands on both and compare them carefully.

They were bought a few years ago by CZ. Influx of a lot of cash, investment.

Re: Colt Series 70 reissue
456 - They made some good revolvers but there 1911s are recived better because of the quailty of parts and workmanship. They are believed to be the best bargain for the money in highend mid level 1911s.
I do wonder if series 70 Colt and DWAs start out the same price does the DWA retain it investment value as well as a Colt through the years, if that is why you are buying a 1911. Usually a old Colt goes up in value. I do agree that shooting value the DWA would be the best value for what you get.Last edited by Neko456; July 23rd, 2012 at 09:16 AM.

Re: Colt Series 70 reissue
After handling and shooting both I would pick the colt. Again just my opinion.

Re: Colt Series 70 reissue
Of my 5 1911s My modified Colt series 70 is 2nd to my E series S&W the DWA is consider a step up on the Smith in some eyes. Unless the new Colts series 70 are really something special I don't see that. Unless you are just a die hard Colt fan. Whats the Colts adavantage over the DWA?
