    Default Showing off

Just showing off my collection, due to a recent breakup, I refinished 3 rifles stocks, the 1941 Mauser Kar 98k, the Stevens Model 72, and the Mossberg 42M(c).

Here I'm just showing off my collection.

    Top to bottom:
M1917 American Enfield built at Eddystone in June of 1918 in .30-06.
    M91/30 Mosin, built in 1943 in 7.62x54mmR.
CZ-452 Special Military Trainer with Williams Adjustable Rear Sight, .22 LR.
Henry Large Loop Lever Carbine in .22 LR.
    Polish Tantal in 5.45x45mm.
The pistols are a Uberti Cattleman Hombre in .357 and a Armi San Marco Replica 1858 Remington .44 Cap & Ball.

    Top to bottom:
Karabiner 98k, built at Mauser Oberndorf in 1941, 8mm Mauser.
    Stevens Model 72, .22LR.
Mossberg Model 42M(c) purchased for $165, .22LR with the OM-22 adjustable sights from Havlin.
    Mossberg 342K(c), .22LR purchased for only $125.
Ruger 10/22 with a TAPCO intrafuse stock, a bad camo paint-job and a Bushnell 4-12 Banner scope, .22LR.
The pistols are 1953 Colt Challenger, a Tanfoglio TA-76 and a Ruger 22/45 with Williams Fire Sights, all in .22LR.

They look awesome...but one word of advice. Dont refinish anything, especially the old ww2 collectibles. Unless their all mismatched/sporterized...

Yeah the Mauser was a Russian Capture, the bolt was mismatched, and a few other pieces were mismatched as well, so I figured it was time for the shellac finish to go. The Mossberg was pretty scratched up so I wanted to refinish it, and the Stevens wood stock looked like plastic.

I have a k98 all matching from a friend that served in ww2 (wake island).
He brought his garand home, before he died he gave it to a friend of mine son along with a two page hand written letter stating how and when he carried it.
I dont know where he got the k98's but what a hell of a gun. i should of grabbed the tanker k98 he had

That's awesome. Firearms with that kind of history... it just doesn't get any better than that.

No it does not get any better than shooting historical firearms, every scratch and dent can tell a story, that's why I just removed the removed the Soviet shellac and coated it with boiled linseed oil, didn't do anything to try and remove the dents and dings.

Hehehe, yeah the Tantal had that funky folding stock, I really didn't like the darn thing so I picked up a TAPCO stock on sale off of whatacountry.com. I thought about painting the handguards black to match, but I decided I liked the contrasting look. The TAPCO stock needs a few washers in order to fit perfectly. I think it looks cool.
