    Default Aubie's pistol recommendations

I haven't posted many new threads lately, so I decided to post some threads on some pistols that I would recommend to new or expert shooters. Please keep in mind that these are all pistols that I own or have owned...so if you don't like what I say about a particular weapon...start your own thread. I am directing this towards all the Glock fans that think it's the end all to pistols.

I'd like to add the Rock Island Armory 1911, should be below $450, mags are abundant and you can always upgrade it later.

I've been considering a RIA for a couple of years now. I remember that you could buy them for $300 NIB. I heard nothing but good things about them...same pistol as the Armscorp/Charles Daly. If I wasn't consolidating my collection, I'd probably have a RIA. I take it you own one...have you modified yours yet?

Nope, don't have one....yet, but I've herad nothing but good about them, I'm no gunsnob, but I like my Kimbers, Springers and Colts. I'd like to have one though as a project gun after I the work on my commander done.

For the price I'd say they are the best 1911s around and very reliable, from what I've heard and seen.

I was only recommending weapons that I've actually owned. I didn't want to get into recommending something that I don't own...because there would be a huge list, if I just recommended everything that I though was a good value.

I'm shocked that you think that the XD is more accurate than the glock. I haven't shot the XD .45, but my XD9 is no where near as accurate as my glock 22 and the 22 doesn't even fit my hand as well as the XD!

I have owned 8 Glocks and only shot 3 XD 45s...none of my Glocks were nearly as accurate as the 3 XD45s that I have shot. I'm sure if you bought an aftermarket glock barrel that it would be a shooter.

    Define accuracy.

Handguns such as glocks and XD's, etc. are combat weapons. If you happen to own one the shoots really well, treasure it. If it shoots 3 to 4 inches at 25 yards it's way more accurate than the purpose for which it was built.

None of us shoots as well under duress as we do on a square range on a warm sunny day.
