I don't know if the dog attacking chickens story passes the smell test or not, but the township ordinance probably won't stand in defiance of state law.

I would at least attempt to chase it off first. If it growled or showed any sign of aggression, I would put it down. Shooting a dog just because it's on your land isn't cool.

There ya go. Nothing like inflicting a little pain on an animal to brighten one's day.


I'm not really trying to get into a smartass contest here. If the dog is on your property and is/is about to attack one of your animals, shoot it. I have absolutely no problem with that whatsoever.

If the dog is just passing through or checking things out, I have no idea why anybody would shoot it.

That's all I have to say about it.
