Question Traveling, when ccw really brings peace of mind.

Has anyone ever applied for a Maryland state concealed carry permit? I go there often for leisure and vacations. I would love to not have to worry about remembering to take off my gun and leave it at home before I cross state lines and become a felon. I was just reading PA reciprocity agreements and I noticed MD was listed as a category 4 'application state' . I always heard it was impossible for a 'civilian' to get a permit for MD. Has anyone tried it? I am a York, PA resident, I simply travel there often. Thanks to anyone and everyone who replies.

They are still a may issue state that rarely issues permits. The law states posession is lawful in a place that is owned or leased (by you), but that's about it. The few "exceptions" for having a handgun in an automobile still require it to be locked and unloaded. I have read that Maryland also considers a loaded magazine to be a loaded weapon. Unlike New Jersey, Maryland does allow the sale of ammunition in Walmarts. I get the feeling that Maryland is held hostage to urban anti-gun Baltimore politics. A year or so back the Baltimore mayor wanted to propose a dollar-a bullet tax. I don't see Pennsylvania and Maryland coming together on this one like we did recently with Maine.
    ...and they have a plan...

I know this is an old thread, but the State of MD WILL NOT issue an out of state resident a permit. It is next to impossible for a resident to get a permit

Yes, apparently they will. A member here, residing in Delta, PA, and owning a business in Maryland got one. I can't remember his name though.

EDIT: Found it, bighornjd, post #69: http://forum.pafoa.org/concealed-ope...ry-permit.html

While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
