San Francisco County Sheriff and your thoughts..

I am currently in San Jose, California. Watching the local news, a segment comes on about the San Francisco County Sheriff. Apparently he is going before an ethics committee tomorrow because he has been convicted of domestic abuse .

He should be disqualified from gun possession or gun ownership under federal law. Am I right?

Sounds like a Political mess and a half. Perhaps the land of fruit and nuts is different but their case would never make it past a prelim in Pa. regardless of job status.

Looks to me as if he plead guilty to a misdemeanor count of false imprisonment, which under California law implies an element of force, though an element of violence would escalate the charge to felony false imprisonment. Therefore this will not likely be viewed as a domestic violence conviction and the Sheriff will not be a prohibited person. Though I'm not a lawyer and I only did a very small amount of research, so I could very well be wrong.
