Default A gluttons day at the range

A few weeks ago I saw a new-used Guardian in .45 acp in the classified section and I decided to snap it up. Gunluver is a man of his word and the pistol was just as advertized. We got to talking and decided to mix business with pleasure. So on Sunday, we headed to gunluver's private range to meet up with some of his buddies. Let me start the range report by saying that these were some really good shooters who were constantly eating the ten ring out of their targets. I am used to being one of the best shots on the line. Sunday quickly let me know that I still have some more work to do. These guys have an awesome club with a dedicated pistol range with stations out to 100 yards. Awesome.

Here is a partial list of the steel that we all got to shoot.

    Springfield Professional,
Custom Kimber with hard-fit barrel and suppressor,
    Dan Wesson Guardian in 9mm,
my new Dan Wesson Guardian in .45 acp.,
    Dan Wesson Specialist,
    Wilson Spec Ops,
    Wilson Professional in 9mm,
    Sig 220 with Suppressor,
    Sig 226 with Suppressor,
STI Spartan in 9mm (what a freaking tack driver),
    Crapload of silenced .22s,
and a 3.8 inch barreled CZ that I don't remember the model number. An absolute tack driver that put bullets through the same hole at 10 yards all day. Great carry gun, goes to show you what you can get for five hundred bucks.

We must have shot for over three hours. Everyone was generous with ammo., pistols and tips. I have to say the highlight of my day was hitting the target repeatedly at 100 yards with the silenced Sig 220. Take the shot and about a second or two later you could actually hear the impact into the target. Took some travel time! Me thinks I'll be scoring a silenced weapon in the near future.

I also truly enjoyed the reaction every one had to my Spec Ops. I think Wilson might get one or two orders in the near future. Here are come gratuitous shots of the pistolas.

Great group of guys. I will determinately be shooting with them again.

Where were all the nice guns?
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I was going to post a "day at the range" picture like that, once, but it had about 15 Tauruses, one Colt, and one SA in it. Why put myself through the torture that was sure to follow?

edit: Oh yea, I always try to shoot with someone who can teach me stuff. When I see someone at the range that I don't know, but is throwing darts, I make the introductions, quickly.

Wilson Guy....you are too kind. You were shooting quite well yourself. By the way folks, Wilson Guy is also a man of his word and a great guy to do business with or just hang out and do some shooting with. We had a freakin blast, didn't we?
Also, the range we shot at is Starview Sportsman's association in York county. There's probably a few member's of the forum here that are members of the club. I look forward to getting a nice assortment of pistols together and doing it again sometime.

Sileinced 22LR pistols and a 45acp quiten I wonder what that sound like or didn't sound like?

I got to ask did anybody fire two pistols at the same time? I know its hard to hit anything that way, but it's fun.

I'd like to do some speed and ballistic jacket drills with those Wilsons and that Pro SA!!!

The the projectile fired from the .45 acp made more nose when it hit the rubber target than the actual discharge and weapon cycle did. The .22s didn't even recoil. You can shoot something with them essentially without losing alignment on the target. The Pro is better than the Wilsons, but I didn't just say that.
