    Default Address change and LTCF

So I know I asked some people here and they said don't worry about. When I moved I forgot to goto the sheriffs office and change my address for my LTCF. I was by someone else that, when I go in to change it and they find out its been awhile they will REVOKE it. Is this true?

Forgetting to change your address with the sheriff is not a valid reason for revocation.

Agreed. It's well documented that a number of PA sheriffs (and the PPD) do various illegal things with regard to licenses to carry. If what you were told is correct, The Unknown 1087, this would be another example. There's no statutory basis for such a revocation.

I recently moved (within Allegheny County) and inquired with the Sheriff's about an address change. I was told just to keep my temp card for my DL with me, and that there was no need to re-issue until my renewal.

My concern is, how will they send my renewal notification if they don't know my new address....

Just ask them to change your address in their records, but not on your LTCF itself.

I called the sheriffs office earlier, he told me it's ok, or I can pay $6 and get a new one.

You might want to ask if they give you the same license number on the new LTCF as you have now... or if they "revoke" your current one and issue one with a new number.

That's a good question, it sounded like they just printed a new one. I think I'll just wait though, it expires November of 2013.

The LTCF system is not able to simply reprint another one. It has to be revoked and reissued

Yeah, but just needing an updated address is not a valid reason to revoke, according to 18 Pa.C.S. § 6109: Licenses. What reason do they use?

    Also...

Notice (of revocation) shall also be provided to the Pennsylvania State Police by electronic means, including e-mail or facsimile transmission, that the license is no longer valid.
