How well does rebarreling improve accuracy?
One of my many turk mausers shoots about 3-3.5 MOA at 100yds, and I wanted to knock that down to around 1-1.5. What kind of difference in accuracy can one expect after putting on a new barrel? And when I say new barrel, I don't mean a military surplus one I mean one from Lothar Walther, ER Shaw, etc. Any insight appreciated. Thanks guys!

I had an O3A3 rebarreled by Shaw years ago that was a tack driver, .5 moa was the norm with that barrel. IMO, more important than the barrel is the installation. A backyard hack with a quality barrel is still a backyard hack.

If that is what you want, give Bobby Hart a call, if it won't help and you could do something else to achieve your goal, he would know.

Re: How well does rebarreling improve accuracy?
is the barrel bad? just a simple re-crowning can improve accuracy significantly and it's a lot cheaper. i would try a re-crown first, unless you know something is wrong with the barrel. just offering different alternative.

I am with tonyfac (again ) on this one, check your crown. Unless the barrel is a sewer pipe, rebarreling is usually my last option. Though an old Turk Mauser would make a nice starting platform for a custom rifle.
The other thing to consider is your ammo, do you reload? How many different ammo types have you tried? Also, what does your fired brass look like? I would be checking out my brass for excessive stretching (chamber issues) measuring the length and looking at possible throat erosion also.
