Moving to Texas, what else should I know?
If anyone on here lived in Texas or knows Texas laws well then maybe you can help me out. I am moving to Texas for the summer and want to make sure I don't accidently break any laws down there. From what I understand, I can bring my handguns and shotguns and ammo with me (all purchased in PA), and I can carry my handguns in Texas on my valid PA LTCF without any additional papers or training. Carried handguns must be concealed at all times outside the home, including in vehicles. Prohibited places are courts, prisons, amusment parks, any sporting events, any schools or school events, places that get more than 50% of their money from the sale of alcohol for on-grounds consumption, marked prohibited private property, 1000 feet of an execution, polling places during elections, government buildings, hospitals and nursing homes, churches, race tracks, and secure areas of airports.
You must present both your LTCF and ID when asked for any ID by an LEO while you are carrying.
Questions:
Am I missing anything important?
Can I carry in liquor stores since its not on-grounds consumption?
What if my shirt accidently rides up and someone spots my gun?
Can I legally carry if I have consumed alcohol but I am under .08, or can I not carry if I have had ANY alcohol? (I'm not planning on drinking and carrying, I just want to be sure)
How must shotguns be transported to the range in my car?
Can I purchase a handgun or long gun in Texas and bring it back to PA? How about ammo?
Thanks for the help guys.

Ammo's no problem, and I think you can buy long guns there but no handguns unless they're C&R and you have a C&R license.
1000 feet of an execution? Should I even ask how that even came about?
Oh, BRING your AR's and/or AK's and go hog hunting while there. LOTS of fun, lots of them to shoot, makes lots of tasty food to grill/BBQ/slow cook, and...well...do you need another reason?Last edited by Yellowfin; June 12th, 2012 at 06:56 PM.

You might want to try and track down a forum similar to this one, but focused on Texas's laws/political scene.

I'm in Houston right now for work. I had no idea they were so restrictive. I'm glad I left my guns at home. So much for Texas being the wild west lol.

It doesn't sound as though Texas' laws are as good as Pennsylvania's.
handgunlaw.us is a good place to start.
Consult with an attorney licensed to practice in the state of Texas -- not some guys on the internet -- for information you could actually take to the bank. (Or to court.)
