    Thumbs up Online permitting process

This may be old news (and my apologies if it is) but Sheriff Mullen is instituting an online permitting process -- with the intent of limiting the number of trips to the courthouse required to obtain your concealed carry permit.

    Just another gun-toting liberal

"According to the General Social Science Survey, about 30% of people who describe themselves as Liberal own a handgun. That works out to about 8 million gun toting Liberals, and doesn't even include moderates or long-gun owning Liberals."

Well, he's making good on at least some of his promises before and after his election. We should still keep an eye on him though.

I'm really not trying to be, honest. I think we should watch all of them, but with Mullen's previous statements that came across as "anti-gun" to many, I think he, among others, requires an eye kept on him. Merely getting the online permit system up and running may seem like such an awesome thing on the surface, but if he summarily denies or revokes more permits than he should, it's really not all that helpful. I'm not saying he is or will do this, only that, we must remain vigilant regarding our rights and those that seek to call our favor in the political arena.

I think the online permit system is way overdue, so I appreciate that someone is working on implimenting it.

I'm gonna look at this favorably.

Planning on instituting an online program and DOING it are 2 different things, I will give Bill a pat on the back when it is working. I PLAN on hitting the powerball, but until I do it, it's just wishful thinking.

... the privilege to carry a concealed weapon...
"Privilege"?! Last time I checked the PA Constitution, it said "The right of the citizens to bear arms ... shall not be questioned" (emphasis mine).

Given that anyone who openly carries in the city of Pittsburgh has a good chance of being subjected to official oppression, it seems to me that the right to bear arms must extend, in this environment, to the concealed carrying thereof.

Very true indeed. But I won't fault him too much if the program isn't on time. After all, if even Microsoft, a commercial firm specializing in software, can't deliver on time, I'd venture a guess that any delays in the new online system would probably be due to genuine problems or simple technical incompetence, not anti-gun malice.
