Computer is not helping my gun buying addiction ! Doing my usualy surfing tonight and found a load of old Police Trade In Smith and Wesson Model 10 with 3" barrel in Very Good condition ( perfect mechanical with possibility of slight bluing loss ) for $230 inc. shipping - how could I pass ! I think it's a pretty good price. If anyone is interested, shoot me a pm and I'll fill you in.

    Your killing me..........
These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Thomas Paine 1776

you have to love a pistol that has not changed much in the last 120 years or so.

Nice ! Yeah, I've pretty much exhausted all the "modern" guns I want, and rather than start grabbing ones "just because", I've started to pick up some older ones. Have picked up a few S&W Police and Dept. of Corrections trade ins, some top breaks, and some H&R oldie but goodies too. Fun to take them out and shoot some of the old ammo too!

Sounds like you made out great with this one.

I just actually sold my 4" bbl model 10. Second to my 6" Model 19 (my baby) it was the most accurate pistol I owned. The only reason I got rid of it was because I picked up a Ruger Police Service six .357 mag with a 4" bbl and I'm trying to free up some money to invest in another carry piece.

3 inch Model 10s are very rare. They were never cataloged by S&W as standard but would make them for special orders. The largest user of the 3 inch Model 10 was the FBI.

Great find at a good price. Congrats.

Nice - thanks for the info.. Can't wait until it arrives at my ffl so I can check it out to see if there are any markings from where it came from! I did see an odd small circular marking on the right side but couldn't make it out and forgot to ask. Oh well, should be here Wed, a day after pics is back up

So who's doing the trade ins? I'd like to take a look and maybe bite on one myself. Have decided to get another S&W K frame and was looking for a round butt with 3" or 4" barrel.

I have quite a few S&W trade-ins in the shop just now. Mostly Models 65 and 686 but I do have a few Model 10s as well as some newer auto-loaders.

To the OP, I have a 3 inch Model 10 as well. Of the several Model 10s I have, that one is my favorite. I got it in with a batch of police trade-ins for the same cost as you got yours.
