I had a base Rock Island "GI 45" 1911, sold it unfired and snagged a GSG 1911/22 instead. All the 1911 kewlness to shoot at a fraction of the cost. And its probably been as dependable as many "big bore" 1911s.
All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Can't go wrong with an RIA. I have two, one commander size 45 and one 5" 38 Super, never any problem. Research RIA and you will see why they are so good and are as close to a original military 1911's as you can probably get - after reading about them, I decided I couldn't go wrong!
I like 1911's and enjoy shooting them from time to time, but don't use for carry. Definitly cool, definilty tried and true, but the world and gun design has passed it by and there are many, many better choices for cc imo. I know, the 1911 die hards will now unleash

with few exceptions all short recoil semi-autos are based on browning designs.

    Man card!

Passed it by? Hardly, 100 years later not a single "better" design exists.

Yeah, I have some plastic guns and no, nothing is wrong with them. They just lack the same art/design and beauty a 1911 has.

Don't know if you are just funning, never heard of anyone not knowing what a man card was , but just in case, here is definition - lol :

    1. Man Card 571 up, 89 down
Requirement to be accepted as a respectable member of the male community. Can and should be revoked by other respectable males for doing non-respectable-male things.
We had to take away Henry's Man Card because he cried in public when Kristina dumped him.
