So have you done anything to correct it? You're pretty quick to jump on others and tell them what they should or should have done, so I thought I'd ask, since you're a Delco resident and know of this violation.

If you want help with the letter, BimmerJon, hit me up in PM's (or post it here). I'll be happy to give you the same help I give other folks. If not, that's fine... as long as you do something about the problem, now that you're aware of it and are able to act on it.

That's cool, care to share the letter with us, for possible future use, and of course any response you may receive as well?

    Smedley.

Be interesting to see the wording. On the general DELCO park rules it says ...

    6. The use of firearms, air guns, slingshots, bows and arrows, and fireworks is prohibited.
... which is legitamte, local gov can regulate the discharge (use of) but not carry.

The last thread activity regarding this DELCO Parks preemption violation was about two years ago. I took a walk along the Leiper-Smedley trail into Smedley Park today and see that the sign prohibiting possession of a firearm is still posted.

I was not carrying today (though I have an LTCF), but just to be clear should I be carrying in a county park in future, this preemption is, in fact, illegal, and though one could be subject to an improper arrest, the charge would have be dropped and one's record cleared?

Also, having read through this thread and noting that others have proactively challenged the county on this matter, how is it the county can simply ignore PA law one's it's formally brought to their attention? I'm assuming it's because someone would have to actually bring litigation and get a judgement compelling them to comply before they are forced to do so?

Call your County Commissioner's office. Write to your County Commissioner's office. Not just one person - everyone out there who lives in Delaware County. Demand an answer.

As I said in post 17, They believe that they own the parks and they can regulate gun carry in them just as you and I can in OUR home. That is the position their lawyer takes. He claims that over rides our rights.
    George,
So many guns, so little money.
